Aspen's Offseason Runs on Two Clocks This Fall

October 8, 2026

Cache Cache, Campo de Fiori and Las Montañas all share one address, 205 S. Mill St. This week the building went three ways. Cache Cache served its last summer dinner on Saturday, October 3, and will reopen on Friday, December 11. Campo de Fiori stays open all offseason. Starting today it opens at 6 p.m., and from October 11 it runs Tuesday through Saturday. Las Montañas keeps serving dinner every night from 5. Its weekend lunch stops after October 5 and won't return until mid-December.

The rest of town follows the same pattern. The fall 2026 dates in eatAspen's offseason guide sort into two schedules. Restaurants that closed earliest are also the last to come back, and they reopen in December. Restaurants that close later reopen around Thanksgiving, the day Aspen Mountain opens. The weeks when the most dining rooms are dark at once fall where those two schedules overlap, from late October to the day before Thanksgiving.

The Early Closers Come Back in December

The first group closed in September or the first week of October:

  • Mawita at the Aspen Airport Business Center has been closed since September 6 and reopens after Sunday, December 13.
  • Duemani on S. Monarch St. closed September 29 and reopens December 4.
  • Bosq on S. Mill St. is closed from October 3 through December 10.
  • Cache Cache closed after October 3 and reopens December 11.
  • PARC Aspen on E. Hyman Ave. is listed in eatAspen's fall 2026 guide as closed October 11 through December 15. Other published lists have shown different dates, so check with the restaurant before you plan around it.

None of these comes back for Thanksgiving. Their reopenings fall between December 4 and December 15, the same stretch when Matsuhisa reopens its upstairs dining room on December 11. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk open on December 12, according to the schedule Aspen Snowmass announced and The Aspen Times reported on September 9. If your plans depend on one of these kitchens, the second week of December is when the dates start lining up again.

The Garden at Hotel Jerome is listed as summer only, with no fall dates.

The Late Closers Come Back on Opening Day

The second group stays open well into October, then closes for a shorter break:

  1. The Wild Fig on S. Mill St. is closed October 18 through November 26.
  2. French Alpine Bistro on E. Hopkins Ave. serves its last night October 21 and reopens November 25.
  3. Aosta on E. Durant Ave. is closed October 25 through November 26.
  4. The Monarch Steak House has the same October 25 to November 26 closure.

Aspen Mountain and Snowmass Mountain are scheduled to open on November 26. That is also Thanksgiving this year. These four restaurants are off for about five weeks, and their breaks end right around ski opening.

Two places that stay open take Thanksgiving off. Matsuhisa closes fully on Thanksgiving Day. Yuki closes that day too. On opening day, the open list is a little different from what the rest of the fall would suggest.

Where the Two Schedules Overlap

Late October through Thanksgiving week is when both groups are closed at once. From October 25, Aosta and The Monarch join the restaurants already dark. Mawa's Kitchen, next door to Mawita, is the one late closer that stays out into December. Its last dinner service is Saturday, October 31, and its last brunch is Sunday, November 1. It reopens for breakfast and brunch on December 10, and dinner resumes Tuesday, December 15. Red Mountain Grill at the Aspen Golf Course plans a two-week closure in early November, but the dates are still to be determined.

Here is the stretch, week by week:

  • Week of October 25: Aosta and The Monarch close. Bosq, Cache Cache, Duemani, Mawita, PARC, The Wild Fig and French Alpine Bistro are already closed.
  • November 2: Mawa's Kitchen starts its seasonal closure.
  • Early November: Red Mountain Grill's two-week break, dates to be confirmed.
  • After November 18: Yuki's Tuesday and Wednesday closures end.
  • November 23: RFTA's winter service begins.
  • November 25: French Alpine Bistro reopens.
  • November 26: Aspen Mountain and Snowmass open, and the October 25 to November 26 closures listed for Aosta and The Monarch end.

This is the stretch to plan around for a birthday dinner or a weeknight with friends.

Who Stays Open, and When

The restaurants that stay open mostly change their hours rather than close. These are the schedules eatAspen lists:

  • Campo de Fiori: opens at 6 p.m. from October 4. Starting October 11 it runs Tuesday through Saturday and closes Sundays and Mondays.
  • Las Montañas: happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m. and dinner from 5 every night. No lunch after October 5.
  • CP Burger: from Monday, October 5, open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
  • Crepe Therapy Cafe: open daily, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
  • Explore Books Cafe: the cafe is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the bookstore 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.
  • Matsuhisa: downstairs stays open. Upstairs closes from October 6 except on Mondays, when Monday Night Football specials run upstairs and at the bar downstairs.
  • Yuki: closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays from October 6 through November 18.

Campo de Fiori and Las Montañas sit in the same building, and their schedules fit together. When Campo closes on Sundays and Mondays, Las Montañas is still serving dinner upstairs from the same entrance.

The guide also lists Little Ollie's, Limelight Lounge, New York Pizza, Phatt Pho, Roxy's Market & Cafe, Steakhouse No. 316 and Woody Creek Tavern as open, without detailed offseason hours. Clark's Market is listed as open too. Call ahead before counting on a specific night.

Off the Plate, Same Pattern

Transit and trail access split the same way. Some things wind down early, and others return right before Thanksgiving.

The Silver Queen Gondola runs its last summer day today, October 4. RFTA's fall schedule runs September 21 through November 22. City of Aspen buses run 7 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. The Woody Creek and Cross Town routes are off for the season and return November 23. Their return is the transit version of French Alpine Bistro reopening on November 25.

At Maroon Bells, the shuttle ends October 18. Trailhead parking reservations through Visit Maroon Bells continue through October 31 at $10 per vehicle. Reservation holders must arrive before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. only through October 18. After that, access depends on weather. Visit Maroon Bells describes the area as reachable by road into early November. The road isn't plowed in winter and can close once snow makes it impassable. The city's Castle/Maroon bus switches to a new schedule on October 19, with later morning starts.

Two shorter items for this week. The Aspen Recreation Center reopened October 1 after its September closure, and regular programs have resumed. The city scheduled overnight concrete work on the S Curves for October 5 to 8, from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Expect alternating single-lane traffic and possible bus delays.

The December Changes

When the early closers come back, a few things will be different. eatAspen reports that Le Cafe will replace ZigZag in the former Mezzaluna space. Its offseason guide lists ZigZag at 624 E. Cooper Ave. as closed, with Le Cafe coming in December 2026. Several restaurants that opened during summer 2026 have never gone through an Aspen offseason. They include LoLa 41 at the White Elephant on Main St., which opened June 15, along with The Golden Horn on the Mill St. pedestrian mall and Café 73 at The Gant. 520 Grill at 455 Rio Grande Place opened May 1. eatAspen's guide doesn't list offseason hours for any of these yet. Downtown also lost a shop this fall. Aspen Eclectic, the Horn family's toy, game and gift store, closed on September 4.

Mid-December brings all of it together. Cache Cache reopens December 11, Highlands and Buttermilk open December 12, and Mawa's Kitchen brings back dinner on December 15.

The quiet weeks before Thanksgiving are a good time to look at your own home without the winter rush. If you'd like to know where your Aspen property stands before the season starts, Zaida Nunez can walk you through it over coffee at one of the places still open.
